REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES
The City of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is accepting proposals from qualified firms for the following professional engineering design services.
MAPLE STREET: CAREER AVENUE TO MARION ROAD
The City of Sioux Falls has received a petition from adjacent property owners to construct Maple Street from Career Avenue to Marion Road. The Sioux Falls Capital Improvements Program Committee and the Sioux Falls City Council have recommended this project be designed and constructed in the 2009 construction year, pending available funding. In addition, the Metropolitan Planning Area Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is the comprehensive document that strives to preserve the quality of life and economic vitality by providing guidelines for a safe and efficient transportation system. In a Market Research Analysis conducted to support the LRTP, public survey results indicated that preservation of access across the City is a top concern. The Maple Street/Russell Street corridor is one of the most important east/west corridors across the City of Sioux Falls.
The City intends to design and construct a four-lane, concrete section on Maple Street from Career Avenue to Marion Road. This section will also contain a center median and right turn lanes. This street exists today as a two-lane rural section with approximately 5,000 vehicles per day. The 2025 traffic forecasts are approximately 20,000 vehicles per day.
