    Mayor Dave Munson and POET CEO Jeff Broin join representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Friday, March 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the new Methane Gas Compressor Building the the ribbon cutting of the Landfill gas energy project.

  • City News: Phillips Avenue reconstruction kickoff event
    The City of Sioux Falls, along with Downtown Sioux Falls, held a kickoff event for the Phillips Avenue reconstruction project. Work will include pavement removal, miscellaneous utility repairs, new curb and gutter, concrete pavement, and streetscape amenities. Phillips Avenue, between 10th Street and 12th Street, will be closed to traffic for the duration of the project. Through traffic on 10th Street and 11th Street will be unaffected by this closure. Phillips Avenue is expected to reopen to traffic by mid June.

  • City News: I-29 Corridor Study
    The South Dakota Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the City of Sioux Falls, held a public meeting on Thursday, February 26, 2009, to gather public input on the options developed as part of the ongoing I-29 Corridor Study. The study seeks to determine the future needs of the I-29 corridor from Exit 73 (Tea Exit) to Exit 77 (41st Street).   • City News: Junior Football Complex Announcement
    The City of Sioux Falls has secured an offer of space for badly needed expansion of its South Dakota Junior Football program.The land, located in western Sioux Falls north of Benson Road, could be used for a total of 14 fields, with eight being constructed in the first phase of development. The City currently uses land at Riverdale Park for junior football, which has outgrown the three fields available there.The new land, a total of 50 acres, is proposed to be donated by Sanford Health as part of a new youth athletic complex.

  • City News: Senator Johnson Field Hearing on Midwest Water Projects
    On May 27, 2008, South Dakota Senator Tim Johnson held a Senate energy field hearing in Sioux Falls to talk about federal funding for midwest water projects, including the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System. Highlights of this hearing include testimony from Sioux Falls Mayor Dave Munson and Lewis and Clark Executive Director Troy Larsen.

  • City News: City / POET Landfill Agreement
    The City of Sioux Falls and ethanol producer POET signed a 10-year contract for City to build an 11-mile pipeline from the Sioux Falls Regional Landfill to POET's Chancellor plant. Under the agreement, the city will then pipe methane gas from the landfill to the ethanol plant. This will help reduce the amount of natural gas POET has to use at it's ethanol plant. The landfill could begin delivering methane to POET sometime in 2009.

    Granicus, a web streaming program designed to make City Council meetings more accessible to the public, is revealed during this press conference held on Tuesday, September 4, 2007.

  • City News: East Side Sanitary Sewer Pump Station Open House
    The City of Sioux Falls along with the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce held a formal ribbon cutting on Monday, July 23, 2007, at 11:30 a.m. for a significant project related to the new eastside sanitary sewer system. The new pump station is located near the Big Sioux River and 57th Street. Once complete, the entire project will open up 23,000 acres for development.
