On behalf of our citizens, it is a pleasure to welcome you to the official web site for the City of Sioux Falls.
I invite you to peruse this site and discover the many exciting attractions that make a visit to Sioux Falls so enjoyable. Sioux Falls is a safe, beautiful, and economically vital city, and I pledge to keep it that way. By effectively balancing the demands of economic development with community needs and visions, City government can set an example of good stewardship for the community it serves.
As the mayor of Sioux Falls, I am steadfast in my commitment to addressing the responsibilities associated with organizing, coordinating, and managing community resources so that we can continue to improve the quality of life for all citizens in Sioux Falls.
Once again, welcome to Sioux Falls!
- Mayor Mike Huether
About Mayor Huether:
I have been married 24 years to my beautiful wife, Cindy. We have an energetic daughter, Kylie, who is a junior in college and is the captain for her tennis team. I was a “Jackrabbit” and “Buck” during my earlier years.
I have enjoyed great success in business with over 25 years of executive management experience. I started my career with Citibank, South Dakota in 1984 in their very first Management Associate program. I have managed multi-million dollar budgets, motivated thousands of management and staff, and created strong jobs across the state while generating revenues that fuel our economic engine in Sioux Falls and across South Dakota. In business I have a record of making good things happen!
While I enjoy my career and the valuable experience it provides, my passion is giving back to the community that has blessed my family in so many ways.
Community service is very important to me. Some of my areas of service include:
- President of The Banquet
- Chairman of the successful community-wide campaign to improve funding for Sioux Falls schools
- Leadership Sioux Falls
- Sioux Falls Tomorrow II Task Force
- Governor’s Task Force on Education Funding
- Governor’s Task Force on Health Care
- Vice President of the HELP!Line Center
- Washington High Booster Club President
- Active Member of Holy Spirit Church
In addition, I have volunteered for many other organizations totaling more than 400 hours of stewardship this past year alone.
In my “spare time,” I assist Cindy in coaching the Washington Warrior Tennis team and I enjoy running, golf, working on my yard, being an avid hunter, and attending as many potlucks as I can.
