Civil Service Board

The Civil Service Board consists of four members who are resident taxpayers of the city of Sioux Falls. The members are appointed by the Mayor and serve a five-year term.

The Civil Service Board shall adopt, amend, and enforce rules and regulations providing for the appointment and employment of all positions in the City classification system. All rules are subject to the approval of the Mayor. The Board is responsible for certifying all entrance and promotional / transfer eligibility lists.

All actions of the Civil Service Board are subject to judicial review by statutes and rules of the court. The Civil Service Board provides guidance and makes recommendations regarding employment activities and testing procedures.
