The Sioux Falls Board of Preservation is conducting a “call for suggestions” in regards to threatened historic structures and sites within the City of Sioux Falls. From the suggestions, some or all of the sites will be placed on a list of Vulnerable Sites in an effort to raise awareness of these endangered properties.
Determining whether or not a property is endangered can be difficult. Threat to historic properties can be found in many forms such as urban sprawl, neglect by owners, apathy of community leaders, lack of financial support or simply the weather.
The purpose of the list is to alert the citizens of Sioux Falls who can make a difference. With that difference, the Sioux Falls Board of Preservation hopes to avert the loss of these irreplaceable historic sites and structures which serve as links to our unique heritage.
