Orpheum Theater Advisory Board of Directors
The Orpheum Theater includes a 688-seat theater space accompanied by a lobby, tenant office space, and conference room. The Anne Zabel Studio includes the 450-seat Anne Zabel Studio Theater, a 75-100 seat classroom space, and the main offices for City Link Channel 16. The Lobby and newly finished Courtyard spaces serve as a connection and focal point between the two theater spaces, serving as the main point of entry into the facility, the ticket counter, concession area, restroom space, and general gathering area.
The Orpheum Board of Directors was established in 2004 and is composed of seven voting members and five non-voting observer members. The members of the Board are appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. The voting members include the fine arts director for the Sioux Falls School District, a person nominated by the Sioux Empire Arts Council, a person nominated by the Convention and Visitors Bureau of the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, and other community leaders.
The Orpheum Theater Advisory Board of Directors holds regularly scheduled monthly meetings on the Third Thursday of the month at 11:30 A.M. The meetings are held in the Orpheum Theater Center – 2nd Floor Conference Room.
The City of Sioux Falls purchased the Orpheum, Lobby, Courtyard, and King of Clubs Building from the Sioux Empire Community Playhouse in 2003 respectively. The City has undertaken a comprehensive restoration and completion of the entire facility. In 2006 it was appropriately named by the City Council as, “The Orpheum Theater Center.”
Current tenants in the building are the Sioux Falls Municipal Band, Sioux Empire Community Theater, and Channel 16 City Link.
