Sioux Falls Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA)
Established by city ordinance (Chapter 19, Article 7) in 1992, Sioux Falls REMSA is a board of five city residents who provide guidance and recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on matters related to emergency medical services.
REMSA conducts quality assurance activities linking all the agencies that provide emergency medical services in Sioux Falls, including call taking, emergency medical dispatcher, law enforcement and fire first response, ambulance service, online medical control and hospitals.
REMSA members are appointed by the Mayor, subject to review and approval of the City Council. Appointments are for a five year term, and members are limited to two consecutive terms.
REMSA receives staff support through the Sioux Falls Health Department. REMSA can be contacted through its city staff liaison:
