The Sioux Falls park system consists of 2,880 acres of parkland, made up of 69 parks, 11 undeveloped sites, 3 support sites, 3 golf courses, a baseball stadium, an ice and recreation center, and 5 community centers. Additionally, Park employees perform maintenance functions on other City-owned property such as street right-of-ways, storm water detention ponds, and drainageways.

The Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Board is a seven-member board. Each member may serve two five-year terms for a total of ten years of service. Members are appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Officers of the board include the president, vice president, and secretary, and are elected by board members. Regular meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, with a quorum of four board members being necessary for a meeting.
