Sioux Falls Transit is required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 to provide a complementary paratransit service to those individuals unable to use its existing fixed route service due to a disability. ADA requires that this service be provided to origins and destinations within corridors with a width of three-fourths of a mile on each side of each fixed route. The corridor also must include an area with a three-fourths of a mile radius at the ends of each fixed route.
Beginning October 1, 2007, Sioux Falls Transit will have defined boundaries for its paratransit service. This defined area is above and beyond the area required by ADA (see attached map). However, any future expansion of the paratransit service area will be established by the ADA requirement listed above.
Any questions in regard to the new boundaries may be addressed to John Nardini, General Manager of Sioux Falls Transit, at 367-7885, Ext. 301.
