Title: Siouxland Health and Human Services to Open for Business

The City of Sioux Falls and Minnehaha County are pleased to announce the opening of the new Siouxland Health and Human Services facility. The building, located at 521 North Main Avenue in Sioux Falls, will serve as the new home for the Minnehaha County Department of Human Services, Falls Community Health and Dental and Health Laboratory, and the Sioux Falls Health Department Environmental Division.

The Minnehaha County Department of Human Services will be open for business on Wednesday, August 15, 2007. This department provides emergency assistance for rent, utilities, food, and medical dental services to those persons meeting financial guidelines. Please call 367-4218 for assistance.

The Sioux Falls Health Department Environmental Division and Public Health Lab will begin operations from their new location on Monday, August 20, 2007. This division provides food service inspection, sound permitting, facility licensing and inspections, neighborhood nuisance complaint inspection, water testing, and administrative services. For further information, please call 367-8760.

Falls Community Health medical and dental clinics will begin providing service in their new location on Tuesday, August 21, 2007. This department provides care for acute and chronic illness, preventative child care and immunization, basic and emergent dental services, sliding fee discounts for the uninsured, and discounts on prescription medications. For further information, please call 367-8793.

The facility is also co-located with the Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls. The primary purpose of the center is to build bridges of understanding, tolerance, and cooperation among all people. This organization serves as a resource center for the culturally diverse community by assisting with advocacy, housing, health services, and adult and youth programs and services. For further information regarding these services, please call 367 7400.
Siouxland Health and Human Services is a collaborative effort and partnership between Minnehaha County and the City of Sioux Falls. Since the Minnehaha County Department of Human Services and the Sioux Falls Health Department serve many of the same clientele, this new facility provides for a centralized point of access for essential health and emergency assistance.
