At approximately 1:20 p.m. on December 10, 2007, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue (SFFR) responded to a structure fire at 312 North Indiana Avenue.
When SFFR arrived on scene there was smoke coming from the attic of the house. Firefighters attempted to make entry and discovered fire in the basement and the attic of the home. Due to the intensity of the fire, firefighters were forced to fight the fire from the outside. No one was home at the time and neighbors reported the fire. The structure was a total loss.
Thirty-four firefighters staffing seven fire trucks, three command vehicles, and two support vehicles were dispatched to this fire. There was one minor firefighter injury and no civilian injuries.
SFFR would like to remind people to check their smoke detectors often.
