Transit Plays Key Role in Helping the Environment and Conserving Gasoline.
Sioux Falls Transit invites residents to join in the second annual National Dump the Pump Day on June 21.
Along with other transportation systems nationwide, Sioux Falls Transit will offer reduced-fare bus service in an effort to encourage people to ride public transportation, improve the environment, and conserve gasoline.
John Nardini, General Manager of Sioux Falls Transit, states, “Public transportation plays a vital role in improving our environment. Participation in National Dump the Pump Day means we will be reaching out to new riders and thanking our current riders.”
Special benefits will be offered by Sioux Falls Transit on June 21, including:
- Half price fares for all fixed route riders.
- A drawing for three free monthly transit passes.
Typically, a one-way fare is $1 or $25 for a monthly pass. Students can purchase a Summer Freedom Pass for just $25, providing them with unlimited rides for the entire summer.
For the convenience of commuters, the Southwest Transfer Center located at 4409 South Louise Avenue is equipped as a park-n-ride stop. There are 22 parking spaces for riders to leave their vehicle and take a bus to their destination. By riding the bus, a rider helps to relieve traffic congestion and saves money on fuel costs and parking fees.
