Title: ADA Acessibility Review Board Members Appointed


Three new ADA Accessibility Review Board members were appointed at the May 14, 2007, City Council meeting. The new board members are: Sarah Aldinger, John Faundeen, and Douglas Hoy.

Sarah Aldinger is a Principal Architect at Architecture Incorporated. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. She is a member and has been Chairperson for both the Main Street Design Committee and the Sioux Falls Board of Historic Preservation. Sarah works with the ADA design guidelines and universal design elements on a daily basis.

John Faundeen is a Program Manager with the US Geological Survey at EROS Data Center. He earned a Master of Science degree in Geography from SDSU. He volunteers with the Banquet and the United Way. John has a son with special needs and their home was designed to physically assist the family in their daily lives. He is willing to share his expertise on overcoming the challenges they faced in providing their son a life full of opportunities. John has previously served terms on the Disability Awareness Commission and the Human Relations Commission.

Doug Hoy works for Sayre Associates as an Engineer. Doug graduated from the SD School of Mines and Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering. His daily work involves municipal street and utility projects. He understands the ADA issues involved with both new and reconstruction projects. Doug volunteers with the Sioux Council of the Boy Scouts of America and Hope Lutheran Church. His specialized skills and knowledge will assist the Board in finding alternative solutions to difficult ADA issues.

The ADA Accessibility Review Board is confident with the skills and expertise the new members bring to the table the ADA ARB will continue to provide excellent service to the Mayor, the City and the citizens of Sioux Falls.
