Title: Crime of the Week: Attempted Child Abduction

The Brandon Police Department would like the public’s help finding the person responsible for what is believed to be an attempted child abduction.

On Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at about 7 a.m., a ten-year-old girl was approached by a male suspect in a pickup who offered her a ride. She refused, but a short time later he again approached her and offered candy. She then fled to the safety of her day care provider.

The suspect is described as a white male in his thirties or forties, with a small goatee and narrow face. He was wearing a black coat with a hood and was driving a silver pickup with a luggage rack on top, similar to a Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
