Title: Mayor Munson Seeks Citizen Task Force Members

Mayor Dave Munson is looking for Sioux Falls residents interested in serving on a joint City/School District task force to move forward with plans for a new, enlarged public arena.

The task force will follow up on work done by the Coliseum Exploratory Group and will work with the Sports Authority to bring a recommendation to the City and School District late this year. If necessary, the task force will also help work to bring the issue before the legislature during the 2009 session.

The total task force will have more than a dozen members including elected officials and representatives of the business community, Munson said, but he’s looking for interested citizens to fill several of the slots.

“I want to make sure we’re finding people who represent a range of viewpoints in our community,” Munson said. “I’m looking for residents who are open-minded and are willing to approach serving on this task force with the city’s best interest at heart. Even though we can only choose a few for this task force, all residents are still encouraged to become involved in this process and give us their input.”

Interested residents can download an application at www.siouxfalls.org/Mayor or pick one up in the Mayor’s office at City Hall, 224 West Ninth Street.

The deadline to submit an application is Friday, April 18, 2008. Mayor Munson hopes to announce the task force by May 1, 2008.
