The City of Sioux Falls will hold a groundbreaking for a major addition and renovation to the Main Library, Mayor Dave Munson announced today.

Representatives of the City, Minnehaha County, and the Siouxland Library Board of Trustees will kick off the project on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 10:30 a.m.

Construction will begin that day and continue through 2009, with an anticipated completion in early 2010. The Main Library will continue to operate throughout the project.

When finished, the Main Library will gain 18,000 square feet and will feature an updated entryway, new furnishings, and a more customer-friendly experience, including reading rooms and a courtyard garden.
