Title: Robbery/Stolen Vehicle

On Sunday, April 20, 2008, at approximately 4 a.m., Sioux Falls Police received information that a Brandon police officer was with a taxicab driver in the area of Brandon. The taxicab driver stated that he had picked up three Native American males in the area of Eighth Street and Phillips Avenue in Sioux Falls at approximately 2:30 a.m. While driving the passengers to a hotel on North Cliff Avenue, one of the back seat passengers produced a silver handgun and forced the taxicab driver to drive to the Brandon area at gun point. The taxicab driver, who was uninjured, was forced out of the vehicle south of Brandon on Hwy 11 and the three males left driving the stolen taxicab.

The stolen taxicab or occupants have not been located at this time. The taxicab is described as a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria, black in color, with SD commercial plates of 62040C and Empire Taxi written in white lettering on both doors and the back window. One of the suspects is described as a heavy set Native American male wearing a green jacket and there is no further description on the other two males.

The Sioux Falls Police Department asks anyone with information to call the Sioux Falls Police Department or CrimeStoppers at 367-7007.
