Title: Sioux Falls Launches Green Initiative

In partnership with the newly created Sioux Falls Green Project, the City of Sioux Falls will strengthen its commitment to environmentally friendly practices, Mayor Dave Munson announced today.

Called Leading Green, the City’s initiative will focus on identifying current environmentally friendly practices, encouraging residents to participate in programs that are available to them, and implementing new ways the City can Lead Green.

“Environmental issues are extremely significant,” Mayor Dave Munson said. “And the City will take a lead role in our new public-private partnership to make sure we’re moving in the right direction.”

The City is debuting an addition to its website today to direct visitors to a variety of environmental resources. By visiting www.siouxfalls.org/green, visitors will be connected with ways they can conserve water, recycle, and reduce emissions by biking or riding the bus. The website also features ways the city is working to be environmentally friendly through various departments like Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Planning and Building Services.

“We’ll continue to add resources,” Munson said, “and we encourage citizens to learn more about how they can work with us to make a positive impact on the environment.”

The City will announce more components to the Leading Green initiative as they are completed.
