Title: Armed Robbery

On Sunday, August 17, 2008, at 0503 hours (5:03 a.m.) hours, Police units responded to 3501 West 49th Street, Lambo’s Gas & Convenience, for an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The store employee stated that a black male wearing a tan “hoodie” and a bandanna over his face came into the store and pointed a dark-colored pistol at him and demanded money. The clerk attempted to leave the store but was stopped by the suspect and forced away from the exit. The suspect then took an undetermined amount of money from the cash register and fled the store.

A witness driving by at the time saw the suspect exit the store and enter a brown Chevrolet car parked southbound on Racket Drive. Responding officers located a vehicle matching that description a short time later parked on the lot of 4705 South Oxbow Avenue occupied by two black males. The subsequent investigation revealed evidence showing both males were involved in the robbery.

  • Rickey Eugene Johnson, Jr., DOB: 05-09-90, was arrested for first degree robbery and kidnapping.
  • Zachary Edward Watts, DOB: 05-25-90, was arrested for first degree robbery and possession of a controlled substance.

Both were lodged at the Minnehaha County Jail. The investigation continues.
