At 09:20 a.m. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue (SFFR) responded to a house fire at 413 S. West Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene light smoke was coming from the second floor. The fire was extinguished in approximately 11 minutes. Fire damage was contained to the room where the fire started. Smoke damage occurred throughout the second floor. Activation of smoke detectors on the second floor alerted the tenants, which enabled them to exit the house without injury. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Additional information will be released by the fire prevention bureau as warranted.

The American Red Cross was on-scene to provide assistance to the family and the firefighters. 18 firefighters staffing four fire trucks, one command vehicle and one support vehicle responded to this fire.
