On January 10, 2008 at 7:20 a.m. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue (SFFR) responded to a house fire at 309 N. French Avenue.
When firefighters arrived on scene light smoke was coming from the attic area. The fire was knocked down in approximately 10 minutes. Fire damage was contained to the immediate vicinity of where the fire started. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The tenants and their pets were able to exit the structure without injury. The American Red Cross was on-scene to provide assistance to the family. Four fire trucks, one command vehicle and two support vehicles staffed by 19 firefighters fought this fire.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to thank homeowners who clear snow from around their neighborhood fire hydrants and continue to encourage everyone to do so. The ability to hook a water supply from the fire truck to the fire hydrant in a timely fashion helps to lessen the time needed to attack the fire. |
