Title: Charter Revision Commission Adopts Report, Schedules Presentation

The fourth Sioux Falls Charter Revision Commission, appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council, has adopted its Final Report and will present it to the City Council on February 4, 2008.

The report includes ten proposed Charter Amendments. Sioux Falls voters will decide whether to approve the proposals on April 8, 2008, during the City election.

During the course of public meetings over the last several months, the Charter Revision Commission considered various charter revision proposals brought forward by City departments, City Council members, Charter Revision Commission members, and/or citizens. After reviewing and discussing all of the proposals, the Commission unanimously recommended ten amendments be brought forward for a public vote.

The Charter Revision Commission’s report is currently available to the public at each of the City libraries, the City Clerk’s Office, or at City Hall in the City Attorney’s Office on second floor. It’s also viewable online at the City’s website: www.siouxfalls.org. In addition, the Charter Revision Commission’s minutes and video of meetings are available for review on the same website.

One or more representatives of the Charter Revision Commission will present their report to the City Council during the Council’s regular meeting beginning at 7 p.m. on February 4th at Carnegie Town Hall, 235 West Tenth Street, in Sioux Falls.

Previously, City voters have approved a number of charter revisions as proposed to the electorate in 1996, 2000 and 2004.
