Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 200 West 21st Street at 1:51 p.m. on July 1, 2008. Crews arrived on scene and found smoke and flames on the outside of the house and garage. A wooden fence and a gas grill were also on fire. The crews on scene extinguished the fires in approximately five minutes.
The resident said he had started his gas grill and returned to inside his house. The resident checked on the grill a short time later and found 10-foot flames coming from it. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 18 personnel and 6 fire trucks. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
As a public safety message, please remind citizens to never leave operating grills, stoves, or ovens unattended. |
