Beginning on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, construction crews will begin work on Third Street between Prairie Avenue and Spring Avenue. Work will include pavement removal, utility repairs, new curb and gutter, and asphalt paving.

This stretch of Third Street will be closed to traffic for the duration of this phase of the project. This closure includes the intersections of Third Street and Summit Avenue, Third Street and Duluth Avenue, and Third Street and Spring Avenue. Through traffic on Prairie Avenue will not be affected by this street closure. Motorists should use Second Street as a detour route. Third Street is expected to reopen to traffic by the end of September.

The prime contractor for this project is Oliver Excavating, Inc. of Tea, SD.
