The Third Street closure originally scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 15 has been postponed one day. Construction crews will now begin work on Third Street between Prairie Avenue and Spring Avenue on Wednesday, July 16. Work will include pavement removal, utility repairs, new curb and gutter, and asphalt paving.

This stretch of Third Street will be closed to traffic for the duration of this phase of the project. This closure includes the intersections of Third Street & Summit Avenue, Third Street & Duluth Avenue, and Third Street & Spring Avenue. Through traffic on Prairie Avenue will not be affected by this street closure. Motorists should use Second Street as a detour route. Third Street is expected to reopen to traffic by the end of September.

The prime contractor for this project is Oliver Excavating, Inc. of Tea, SD.
