The Sioux Falls Police Department would like the public’s help locating the person responsible for shooting at a police officer.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11, an officer was shot at while driving in the area of the Parks and Recreation department shop near 49th Street and Elmwood Avenue.

The round shattered both the passenger and driver front windows, narrowly missing the officer. The officer received minor injury from flying glass. The white male suspect is described as wearing an olive green, dark gray or black shirt. Police ask that anyone on the bike trail in that area, 49th Street south to I-229, around the time of the shooting contact police.
