Mayor Dave Munson invites residents to learn more about the City’s proposed 2009 budget through several education pieces.

Residents can go to www.siouxfalls.org and click on the new Budget Basics site. It walks them through each part of the City’s nearly $412 million proposed budget. It includes links to detailed breakdowns of the budget and a quiz to test visitors’ knowledge of the City budget. The site also features a video clip explaining the budget, which will be aired several times daily on CityLink Channel 16.

“I’m hopeful residents will use these tools to learn more about our budget,” Munson said. “What’s in our budget represents Sioux Falls today and tomorrow and I would love to see citizens become more informed about it.”

The City Council will hear more details related to the general operating budget during hearings with individual City departments in August. The budget must be approved by the end of September.
