2008 National Electric Code (NEC) & Local Amendments
Attached is a draft ordinance that proposes to adopt the 2008 National Electric Code (NEC) which is the most up to date nationally recognized minimum code for the installation and design of electrical systems. New features include greater consistency in grounding and bonding terminology, expansion of the arc fault circuit interrupters and child safety receptacles in residential construction, an improved index and new provisions to reduce worker hazards. Included in the draft ordinance are state and local amendments to the electrical code. Those sections of the ordinance that are highlighted are changes to either to the 2005 to the 2008 National Electrical Codes, or changes from the 2005 to the 2008 local ordinance.
