At 11:19 p.m. on May 30, 2008, the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at 318 South Spring Avenue, Apt. 1.
When officers arrived on the scene they found a 20-year-old male victim on the front porch of that residence. He had three stab wounds to the neck, upper chest, and abdomen. He was transported and admitted to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving.
The subsequent investigation led to the identity of the suspect and a four-hour search ensued. At approximately 3:30 a.m. on May 31, 2008, the suspect was located in the area of 12th Street and Summit Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody after a brief struggle with officers.
The suspect is identified as: Maria Chantell LeClaire, 18 years of age, of 318 South Spring Avenue, Apt. 1, Sioux Falls.
The suspect was lodged in the Minnehaha County Jail for one count of attempted murder. |
