On June 5, 2008, the Sioux Falls Police Department conducted a compliance check of 23 off-sale alcohol establishments within the Sioux Falls city limits.
Of the 23 establishments checked, 3 made a sale to a person under the age of 21. The clerk making the sale was issued a citation for furnishing alcohol to a person 18-20 years old (SDCL 35-9-1.1), with a mandatory court appearance required.
Businesses making sales to underage persons may face fines, suspensions, or loss of their liquor or malt licenses. The businesses making the sales were:
