At approximately 3:22 p.m., June 9, 2008, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 337 North Phillips Avenue. First arriving units reported light smoke on the third floor. Upon further investigation, a mattress fire was discovered in one of the rooms on the third floor. The fire was quickly extinguished and smoke from the smoldering mattress fire was vented out of the structure. There was no damage to the structure.
It was determined that the fire started from smoking materials. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue reminds everyone to never smoke in bed. No injuries were reported. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with five fire trucks, two support vehicles, and 23 firefighters. |
