At 2:30 p.m. March 4, 2008, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to the report of a structure fire in an apartment building at 4303 West Valhalla Boulevard.
The first firefighters on the scene reported heavy smoke and fire coming from an apartment window on the first floor. The firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes of arrival.
All of the residents were able to evacuate the building safely. The contents of the apartment suffered heavy damage and adjacent apartments suffered smoke damage. The apartment building owners and the Red Cross were assisting the displaced occupants with alternate shelter.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. |
