The Sioux Falls Police Department in cooperation with the Sioux Falls School District will be giving three presentations on teen driving and carelessness. The program is called “Carelessness Causes Crashes.” Traffic officers from the Sioux Falls Police Department will give a one-hour presentation on some of the dangers that they see with teenage drivers that have caused serious crashes and unfortunately fatalities. Included in the presentation will be a short video clip with actual crashes in Sioux Falls, including 911 audio. Officers will talk about how alcohol, speed, cell phone usage, and other distractions can be major factors in a serious crash.
Parents are encouraged to come with their teenage driver to one of the three presentations being offered:
- Washington High School – Tuesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. – Large Auditorium
- Roosevelt High School – Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m. – Large Auditorium
- Lincoln High School – Tuesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. – Large Auditorium
On display at both the Roosevelt and Lincoln High School presentations, will be a pickup involved in a fatality in which the driver and his three year old walked away from the crash because of properly worn seat belts and child restraints. The public is welcome to any of the presentations. |
