At 11:31 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, Sioux Falls Police, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, and Rural Metro Ambulance, responded to a report of a car/pedestrian accident at Tenth Street and Conklin Avenue.

The result of a preliminary investigation determined that Sioux Falls resident, Wanda Provancial, was crossing the street at Tenth Street and Conklin Avenue, walking north, when she was struck by a Dodge Dakota pickup that was traveling westbound on Tenth Street.

The pickup was driven by 52-year-old Stanley Dean Akin of Sioux Falls.

At the time of this release, 35-year-old Wanda Provancial was listed in critical condition at McKennan Hospital.

Stanley Akin was not injured. The investigation is continuing.
