On August 22, 2009, at 10:28 p.m., SFPD, SFFR, and Rural Metro Ambulance were dispatched to the intersection of Arrowhead Parkway and Highway 11 for an injury accident. On scene investigation revealed that a 35-year-old male had been driving north on Highway 11 and failed to stop for a red light. His vehicle skid through the intersection and landed down an embankment in the wooded area to the north of the intersection. Rural Metro transported the victim to Avera McKennan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, Jason Richard Boyles, was charged with DWI-1st, failure to stop at a red light, open container in vehicle, no proof of insurance, and no seat belt.
