Beginning Thursday, July 16, 2009, construction crews will begin work on North Second Avenue from 50th Street North to 54th Street North.

The work will include sanitary sewer trench excavation, pipe installation, trench backfilling, compaction, and replacing asphalt over the excavated area.

Second Avenue, from 50th Street to 600 feet north, including the full intersection at 50th Street, will be closed to traffic; 54th Street, from Fourth Avenue to Second Avenue, and 50th Street from Fourth Avenue to Second Avenue, will be closed to through-traffic. Local access will be maintained.

The work is expected to be completed by July 24, 2009.

The prime contractor is First Rate Excavate, Inc. of Sioux Falls.
