Title: Fire Chief Earns National Distinction

Sioux Falls Fire Chief Donn Hill has earned the designation of Chief Fire Officer (CFO) by the Commission of Professional Credentialing.
The designation is recognized industrywide as a high level of achievement that requires a consistent level of excellence. Of the more than 35,000 fire chiefs nationwide, only 643 have earned a CFO distinction.

"I'm very proud of Donn Hill's accomplishments," Mayor Dave Munson said. "His leadership skills, enormous professional ability, and high ethical standards are second to none."

The CFO distinction was created to honor fire officers who have demonstrated a level of excellence throughout their careers, served as role models for colleagues, and displayed exemplary moral standards.

To earn the designation, Chief Hill had to demonstrate accomplishments in several key areas, including education, experience, professional development, community involvement, and technical competencies. He also had to display skills required for fire and emergency medical services as well as proven leadership and management skills.
