Title: House Fire at 4108 South Teakwood Avenue


On October 2, 2009, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 4108 South Teakwood Avenue at 5:12 p.m.

First arriving crews found smoke coming from a one story house. Firefighters entered the building and quickly put the fire out. The one resident who was home was out of the house when fire crews arrived. The house sustained smoke and heat damage throughout and fire damage to kitchen and dining area.

The Red Cross was on scene to assist with the needs of the residents.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 1 support vehicle, 4 fire trucks, and 23 personnel. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The building did have working smoke detectors but did not have a sprinkler system.

The cause of the fire was overheated cooking oil.
