On Sunday, October 11, 2009, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 1528 W. Tenth Street at 1:36 a.m.
First arriving crews found smoke coming from a story and a half house. Firefighters entered the building and had the fire out in approximately 20 minutes. The residents were out of the house when fire crews arrived. The house sustained fire, smoke, and heat damage to a second floor bedroom.
The Red Cross was on scene to assist with the needs of the residents.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 4 fire trucks, 1 support and 21 personnel. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The home did have working smoke detectors but did not have a sprinkler system. The cause of the fire was to determined to be caused by a malfunction in the home’s wiring. |
