The City of Sioux Falls will conduct a scientific survey of its citizens starting in October. This week, postcards will be mailed out to 3,000 residents alerting them that they have been selected to participate.

Starting October 5, 2009, surveys will be mailed out and processed by the National Research Center, Inc., for comparison with other comparable cities nationwide. Survey questions will cover a variety of topics including the overall quality of life in Sioux Falls and citizen satisfaction with a range of public services.

Mayor Dave Munson and the Sioux Falls City Council first partnered to conduct a survey in early 2008 with the same research firm and decided to do so again this year to track changes over time and to ask additional questions. While only survey responses sent in by mail will count toward the scientific sample, anyone will be able to complete an identical survey online at www.siouxfalls.org starting next week. Those results will also be sent to the City of Sioux Falls.
