On Thursday, August 19, 2010, at approximately 6 p.m., Sioux Falls Police received a report of a fight disturbance and a man down at the intersection of 16th Street and Duluth Avenue.

When officers arrived, the suspect had fled the scene and the victim was lying in the road unconscious. The 26-year-old male victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening head trauma.

The suspect and victim were known to each other. No known weapons were used during this altercation.

The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Burton LeRoy Eagle Hawk Jr. (also known as Burton LeRoy Spirit Track Jr.) for aggravated assault, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and two outstanding warrants.

The investigation is continuing.
