At approximately 1:50 p.m. on August 26, 2010, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 805 South Lyons Avenue, an eight-unit apartment building.

First arriving crews arrived on scene in approximately five minutes from notification and found light smoke coming from an upstairs window.

Fire crews entered the building and found a fire on top of the stove in the kitchen. The fire was under control in less than ten minutes. The kitchen sustained minor fire and smoke damage. The damage was contained to the apartment of origin.

The fire alarm system did activate and notified the building’s occupants to evacuate. There were no reported injuries to any occupants.

Five fire trucks, a command vehicle, a support vehicle, and 22 firefighters responded to the fire.
