The closure of River Boulevard between Cliff Avenue and Southeastern Avenue will be extended to Wednesday, September 1, 2010, due to unforeseen delays in the railroad crossing work.

River Boulevard has been closed to all traffic since Monday, August 23, to allow the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad to perform railroad crossing improvements near the intersection of 18th Street and Southeastern Avenue.

River Boulevard is now expected to reopen to one lane of traffic in each direction on the new westbound lanes on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 1, weather permitting. There is not a signed detour route established for this closure. Motorists should continue to use 10th Street, 12th Street, and 26th Street as alternate routes.

The overall completion date for the project is October 29. The prime contractor for this project is T & R Contracting, Inc. of Sioux Falls.
