Due to the Monday evening rain, Russell Street at Kiwanis Avenue and Western Avenue will be closed again on Tuesday, August 31, 2010.

The detour route for this phase of construction will utilize North Louise Avenue, West Madison Street, and North West Avenue. The closure for West Avenue and Prairie Avenue will be delayed until further notice.

Work will include pavement repair and an asphalt overlay on the existing concrete surface.

The intersections will be closed after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, and will reopen prior to 6 a.m. the following morning. Traffic delays are expected in this area, and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.

The westbound lane closure between Western Avenue and West Avenue is still on schedule to begin Wednesday, September 1, 2010. The detour route for this phase of construction will utilize West Russell Street Frontage Road on the north side of Russell Street. Work will include cracking and seating the existing concrete surface and an asphalt overlay.

The prime contractor for this project is Seal Pros, Inc. of Harrisburg, SD.
