The Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill would like to remind residents in its five-county service area (Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha, and Turner counties) that the landfill does recycle refrigerant and scrap appliances for beneficial reuse.
One of the options to comply with the eligibility requirements for the State of South Dakota Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program for refrigerators and freezers is that the rebate application must include a signature from a recycler or retailer that the appliance will be recycled or disposed of in accordance with state law. Residents should bring their South Dakota Energy Efficient Application Rebate Application Form with them if they choose to use the landfill for recycling services. After load inspection to verify the type of appliance, a landfill employee will be able to sign the recycler’s affidavit section of the application form.
Residents who bring their appliance to the landfill will be charged for the incoming load, which is $16 for a pickup or two-wheel trailer, and will need to tarp their load to comply with landfill tarping requirements to prevent litter.
General information regarding the landfill, including location, hours of operation, rates, and materials accepted are located on the City’s website at www.siouxfalls.org.
