On January 20, 2009, Sioux Falls Police conducted a compliance check of 24 off-sale alcohol establishments.

Of the 24 establishments, four sold to a person under the age of 21. The clerks who sold to a minor were issued a citation for furnishing alcohol to a person 18-20 years old (SDCL 35-9-1.1) with a mandatory court appearance required.

The establishments where the purchases were made are as follows:

• Shop 'N Cart, 1029 North Minnesota Avenue
• Sunshine Foods, 530 South Second Avenue
• Freedom Value Center, 1601 South Minnesota Avenue
• Get-N-Go, 2421 South Minnesota Avenue

In an effort to protect the young people of our community, the Sioux Falls Police Department will continue to do random alcohol compliance checks of all on-sale and off-sale alcohol establishments within the city limits.
