No reduction in the overall level of service will result from the Street Department’s snow removal budget adjustments. Specifically, Street Department crews will apply anti-icing chemicals in a more efficient manner, including the use of chemicals only on critical transportation routes and at key intersections.

Additionally, chemicals will be used as conditions warrant, to reduce the likelihood of over-application.

The Street Department maintains several hundred miles of emergency and secondary snow routes. By limiting the use of chemicals to critical times and locations, the department will reduce material, labor, and fuel costs without compromising the safety of our citizens.
