Eugene Rowenhorst, Director of Finance for the City of Sioux Falls, reported that sales tax receipts, just received by the City from the State of South Dakota Department of Revenue through July 2010, show a year-to-date increase of 1.5 percent over the same period a year ago. In comparison, year-to-date figures for June showed a 6 percent growth rate.
Rowenhorst noted that the City continues to see sales tax receipts vary from month to month in part due to timing differences in sales tax collections. Recognizing the uncertain economic environment, the Mayor presented the City Council with a 2011 budget on July 22, 2010, which used a 0 percent growth rate for the sales and use tax in 2010 and 2011. |
