Due to rainy conditions, The City of Sioux Falls Public Works department is rescheduling its pothole repair event from today to Thursday, March 11 at 2 p.m.
The revised schedule of events related to road repair is:
- Wednesday, March 10: This construction season will be one of the biggest ever for the City of Sioux Falls. We are committing $33 million to address 1,200 city blocks. Meet at the Commerce Center, at the corner of Eighth Street and Phillips Avenue, for a preview of one of the most significant road construction projects coming up this year. Bids for work are also coming in below estimates, allowing the City to add more road projects to the 2010 program, which will be an added benefit to streets following an abnormally harsh winter. You will also receive a map of the entire road construction program and find out how the City will use technology to keep residents updated on this year’s projects.
- Thursday, March 11: The City of Sioux Falls is addressing potholes from all directions. Public Works has enlisted the help of other City departments and is deploying three-day crews and one overnight crew to focus on potholes in different city neighborhoods. Meet up with crews on West Avenue between Sixth Street and Madison Street and find out a new way you can report problem spots to the City.
- Friday, March 12: In just a matter of weeks, the largest single construction project in Sioux Falls history will get underway, with the reconstruction of the 41st Street bridge. Work is already underway casting major beams that will be needed for the project. Media should meet at Gage Brothers, 4301 West 12th Street, to see the work that is being done. You will also get a look at the recommended alternate routes that motorists will be able to use once construction starts.
All events begin at 2 p.m. and are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Updated information will be sent out daily.
