On September 1, 2010, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a house fire at 704 North Van Eps Avenue.
First-arriving crews found smoke coming from the second floor. Firefighters found a mattress on fire on the second floor. Firefighters had the fire under control in approximately five minutes. The house sustained minor fire damage to a bedroom on the second floor and smoke damage throughout the house.
The residents were not at home at the time of the fire. The Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the residents.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 2 support vehicles, 4 fire trucks, and 19 firefighters. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The house did not have a residential sprinkler system. The cause of the fire is under investigation. |
